The challenge
A great many vendors promise that they can prevent failures before they occur. Establishing whether continuous cable monitoring actually does that means running it on a live distribution network, not in a vendor presentation — and then being willing to say publicly what happened.
Our contribution
Real-time cable monitoring on BGE’s distribution network, with the deployment and its lessons presented jointly at DistribuTECH 2024 as a Lunch & Learn session.
The session brought together Hamid Abdurrahim, Manager of Distribution Automation & Technology at BGE, and Smart Cable Guard engineer Jeff Rea, to discuss the transformative potential of real-time cable monitoring and the lessons learned from BGE’s own deployment.
